Warrior Athletics has hired Dan Seargeant, an RU Alumni, to lead the Men's Soccer program beginning in the 2023-24 season. This will be Seargeant's first head coaching position at the collegiate level.

"I am really excited to be able to have Coach Seargeant on our staff and leading our men's soccer program," Warrior Athletic Director Clayton Bissett said. "I was fortunate enough to have been at RU when Sarge was playing for us, and it was great to watch him grow and mature as a person during his four years here."

Seargeant was a four-year starter and team captain of the men's program, graduating in 2015. In 2019, Seargeant was appointed to the program's coaching staff as an assistant. Seargeant is highly experienced at the club level and is an academy director at Michigan Stars Elite.

"It gives me a great sense of pride to be coaching at RU," Seargeant said.  "I started my US soccer journey here as a four-year captain, and have been back a few times to help out coaching, I hope to replicate the successful and enjoyable time I had here for the players of the current squad."

Seargeant comes in to lead a squad that narrowly missed the WHAC Playoffs this year. With key returners like WHAC regular-season goals leader Dmitar Stankovic as a part of the team, Seargeant is looking to capitalize on the talent available.

"This off-season is all about building a solid base of fitness and cleaning up the technical side of the game," Seargeant said. "The goal is to build a culture and a team that is willing to fight and compete for each other, that are stubborn and hard to beat but play an attractive style of soccer."
