BARRY WHEELER

INDUCTED OCTOBER 13, 2018

Barry Wheeler played both basketball and baseball while a student at then-MCC. He completed his bachelor's degree at Harding University and earned his master's degree from the United States Sports Academy.

He returned to MCC to coach women's volleyball, basketball, and softball. His 1998 and 1999 volleyball teams won the National Small College Athletic Association Invitational Tournament. His 1997-98 basketball team went to the national tournament in Salina, Kansas.

Barry and his wife, Lynette, also served as dorm parents, and Barry taught a number of physical education classes and oversaw RCU's intramural program. Coach Garth Pleasant said, "It was a privilege to have coached Barry and then to have been his colleague for a number of years. I am grateful for all he gave to the athletic program."

Only Coach Bill Shinsky coached more sports at the University than Barry. Barry is inducted as a coach due to his service and longevity to the athletic program.
