Men's Basketball takes down the Gray Wolves in midweek action
(Rochester Hills, MI) - The Rochester Christian men's basketball team played the second half of a two-game homestand on Wednesday evening against the invading Grey Wolves from Lourdes. A second half push from the Warriors offense propelled RCU to the slim six-point victory. RCU now improves to 11-7 overall and 11-6 conference play.
FIRST HALF
The two teams started out playing tight right away, with neither team getting a big lead throughout the period. Tymias Williams hit a pair of free throws to start the scoring for RCU, with Linden Holder adding a pair of points on the next trip down the floor. The 9-5 run to start the period was ended following a Darnell Turner Jr. bucket. Lourdes got out to the biggest lead of the game, nine points, following a 15-2 run.
Tymias Williams scored four, Linden Holder hit a three-pointer, and Tyler Allen and Darnell Turner Jr. tied the game right back and gave the Warriors the slim 27-22 lead with their own 13-2 run over the next five minutes. Turner Jr. scored a couple of points and Williams hit a layup to close out the first half.
SECOND HALF
James Fisher and Tymias Williams grabbed the first four points of the half before the teams traded three-pointers. Lourdes would continue gaining momentum with a 6-2 run, to pull to within a point. Holder would then hit back-to-back three pointers and Fisher converted a dunk as RCU attempted to pull away. Over the next four minutes, RCU would take control of the game with a 15-2 run, as Holder and Dustin Farrow added another pair of three's to push the lead out to 16.
The Gray Wolves wouldn't go away though, going on an 11-4 run, responding right away and getting to within eight before Darnell Turner Jr. hit a three-pointer. Following a pair of James Fisher buckets, Lourdes would continue their scoring output, going on a 10-2 run, to draw to within three points. Linden Holder and Tymias Williams would both knock down free throws to close out the game.
TOP PERFORMERS
Four different Warriors led the way offensively with Tymias Williams leading the way with 22 points and Linden Holder scoring 20. Darnell Turner Jr. added 17 points. Holder recorded a team-high five assists, while Williams assisted on four.
James Fisher and Darnell Turner Jr. led the way on the boards with nine each, while Tymias Williams and Fisher each had three steals.

The Warriors will head back out on the road as they will next face off against the Cornerstone Golden Eagles on Saturday, February 7, at 3 PM.
