Warriors Get Back Into Winning Column Against LTU, 75-54

Rochester was able to get back into the winning column on Saturday afternoon, defeating the Lawrence Tech Blue Devils 75-54. Once the game began in the first quarter, both teams came out an offensive battle ensued for the first half. 

 

Rochester University scored 25 points in the first, with the Warriors' full-court pressure defense forcing 11 turnovers. The Blue Devils scored 18 points while also going to the free-throw line 14 times in one quarter.

 

At halftime, Rochester held the lead 44-34. The Warriors' reserves compiled a solid first half, providing an offensive spark off the bench while scoring 33 points in one half. Gathering 16 steals led to multiple offensive possessions and disrupted the Blue Devils' momentum.

 

The last two quarters mirrored the 2nd quarter. Continuing their stout defense to create turnovers while simultaneously maintaining their offensive pace allowed the Warriors to sustain their lead for the remainder of the contest.

 

Elysia Mattos scored 10 points while orchestrating the offense, and Imari Martin scored 10 points while securing four steals. The balanced offensive attack was key for the Warriors, as six players scored eight points or more during the contest. 

 

Rochester will gear up for a crucial matchup against Siena Heights on February 15th in Garth Pleasant Arena. Both teams share second place in the WHAC conference, with Siena Heights claiming the last victory 79-74.
