CLUTCH PLAY BY TARTROU, SCHODOWSKI, SECURES WOMEN'S SOCCER VICTORY AT LTU

SOUTHFIELD, MI - Women's soccer (8-1-0, 2-0-0) secured a pivotal road win on Wednesday night, defeating the Lawrence Tech Blue Devils (4-2-2, 1-1-0) 1-0 at Blue Devils Stadium. In what was a stout defensive matchup, with both teams combining for only six total shots, Rochester prevailed in the closing minutes behind a clutch goal from sophomore Jenna Schodowski.

Freshman goalkeeper Naomie Tartrou earned her fourth clean sheet of her career, making four clutch saves to ensure the Warrior victory. Two of those saves came in the first half, with Tartrou making two high-difficulty saves, one being a diving effort at the top left of the goal.

Those two shots were the only Blue Devil looks at goal during the half, but Rochester had just one before the halftime buzzer. Things would ramp up for both teams offensively in the second half, with both teams beginning to open up the pitch.

Tartou made another save in the 53rd minute, and followed that up in the 60th. However, Rochester wasn't finding many opportunities to capitalize. Things would change in the 80th minute, when Schodowski got past an LTU defender off a pass by sophomore Olivia Howes and powered a shot that careened off the cross bar and into the net.

"I knew it was coming to the end of the game, and we had to finish on the few chances we took," Schodowski said. "I took a look up, hit it as hard as I could, and watched it hit the back of the net."

Rochester's defense tightened up following the goal, only allowing one shot in the final ten minutes that went wide. Rochester secured the 1-0 victory, marking the second time the Warriors have ever defeated the Blue Devils.
