WASHINGTON, MI - Women's Soccer (10-5-0, 4-4-0) couldn't end its skid against Michigan-Dearborn (7-6-1, 3-4-1) on Wednesday afternoon, falling 4-0. Rochester struggled on counterattack opportunities on both ends of the ball, and the Wolverines left no doubt after hitting some impressive shots.
Despite out-shooting the Wolverines 27-12, shot efficiency doomed the Warriors, with many shots being either off-target or easy saves for the keeper. 10 of the Warriors' shots were saved in the game, while the Wolverines were able to do more with less.
Michigan-Dearborn recorded its first goal in the ninth minute on a counterattack opportunity and set the tone out of the gate. Rochester got looks at goal from midfielders Jenna Schodowski and Faith Staley early on, but the trap-style defense of the Wolverines made quality shots hard to come by.
Things would quiet down for the remainder of the first half, but immediately got ugly for Rochester when a 48th-minute goal by Michigan-Dearborn would put the Warriors in a two-point deficit. Michigan-Dearborn again scored just two minutes later on a deep shot. Rochester would amp up the pressure, but that wouldn't be enough as the Wolverines would score a fourth goal in the 77th minute to put the game away.
