WARRIORS DRAW IN NAIL BITER WITH CLEARY 2-2

HOWELL, Mich. - It was not a game for the faint-hearted on Wednesday night, with the Warriors (1-4-5, 1-2-2) drawing with the Cleary Cougars (2-4-4, 1-1-2) 2-2. Following another Ames-Perez goal connection by the Warriors, the Cougars scored two goals to take what seemed to be a commanding lead in front of a home crowd. However, the Warriors executed some late-half heroics to tie things up off a goal by Olivia Howes from Jenna Schodowski.

THE RUNDOWN

FIRST HALF

  • Both teams had their share of attacking opportunities early, with the Warriors starting things off with a corner kick goal by defender Isabella Ames from Aliana Perez - Perez's assist being her third corner kick assist of the season. The Cougars fired back with their own goal just eight minutes later. Three shot-on-goal attempts by the Warriors were saved by the Cougars' keeper, and both teams entered halftime tied up.

SECOND HALF

  • The Cougars were the first team to strike in the second half with a goal 14 minutes into play. Things seemed to slow to a crawl for the ensuing minutes, but Schodowski set up Howes for a perfect scoring opportunity to get the game tied up with under thirty minutes remaining. The teams locked into a defensive contest from there, with few shot opportunities going either way before the final horn
