(Rochester Hills, MI) - The Rochester Christian women's soccer team began its Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference (WHAC) season against the Warriors from Indiana Tech. Three first-half goals were enough for RCU to win its first WHAC game of the season. RCU improves to 5-3-0 on the season, while IIT falls to 0-5-0.
Brooklyn Perron (4-3-0) played the full 90 minutes in net, making one save on the three shots she faced.
Makenna Kennedy scored her first RCU goal, with an assist going to Aliana Perez, in the 12th minute as one of the eight shots that RCU put on the IIT defense in the first half. A couple of minutes later, Olivia Howes tallied her second goal of the week with hers in the 19th minute, with Samantha Johns earning an assist. Indiana Tech responded with its first goal 47 seconds later.
The 31st minute saw Jenna Schodowski tally her second goal, which would end up being the game-winning goal. Samantha Johns would also pick up her second assist of the day.
Both teams traded possessions throughout the second half, with neither team being able to score, until Indiana Tech came to within one score with a 89th-minute goal.
MILESTONE WATCH
With her one goal today, senior forward Olivia Howes now has 28 career goals and is one away from breaking Ashlin Taylor's (2015-2018) record since the Warriors joined the NAIA in 2011.
Jenna Schodowski ties the program record for game-winning goals with seven career goals.
