LATE GOAL FROM STANKOVIC GIVES MEN’S SOCCER 1-1 DRAW AGAINST CLEARY

WASHINGTON, MI - The Warriors (2-2-2, 0-0-1) got through a close call on Saturday afternoon, drawing against the Cleary Cougars (3-3-2, 0-0-1) 1-1 after a last-minute goal by forward Dmitar Stankovic. While the Warriors certainly would've wanted to secure a win in their first WHAC competition, Rochester will look on the late score as a positive momentum shift for their upcoming game.

Rochester outshot the Cougars 17-3 during the contest, but Cleary would capitalize early on one of its few opportunities, scoring in the 22nd minute. Rochester saw several shot opportunities following the goal, but couldn't seem to get much on target to tie the game.

Following the halftime break, midfielder Viktor Juncaj got a shot opportunity on target but was stopped by the Cougar goalkeeper. Rochester continued controlling the ball on their side of the pitch, but couldn't find anything at the net.

Things got intense at the end of the contest, with Rochester having two shots at goal saved in the 85th minute. Amping up the pressure, the Warriors continued to force turnovers, and Stankovic would finally get a golden opportunity, tapping the ball in off a pass from Ivan Stojanovic.
