WARRIORS DEFEATED AT HOME BY MADONNA 3-0

WASHINGTON, Mich. - The Warriors (1-8-2, 1-5-1) fell to the Madonna Crusaders (10-1-2, 7-0-0) on Wednesday afternoon at Michigan Stars Sports Center. The Warriors struggled to find an offensive output that matched the visitors, as the Crusaders out-shot the Warriors 25-6. Goalkeeper Kris Tauzik led both keepers in saves with seven, while forward Ivan Stojanvic led the Warriors in shots on goal with two.

THE RUNDOWN

FIRST HALF

  • The Warriors started out with some timely saves from Tauzik to start things off, while Stojanovic nearly got a ball past the Crusaders' keeper to make it a 1-0 game in the 22nd minute. Following another save from Tauzik, Stojanovic nearly produced another chance just three minutes later, but Crusader keeper Afonso Henrique made a great diving effort
  • RCU had another chance in the final 15 minutes of the half thanks to senior Dmitar Stankovic, but a Crusader defender blocked that shot. Madonna's Jordy Lopez scored the game's first goal in the 36th minute to give the team from Livonia a one-goal lead heading into halftime

SECOND HALF

  • Four minutes into the first half, Madonna's Ryota Nakajima scored the Crusaders' second goal to make things harder on the Warriors. Rochester Christian saw a few shot attempts from Luka Knezevic and Stankovic sail just past the goal as RCU tried to find some sign of offensive momentum
  • The Warriors got a few more saves from Tauzik, but the Crusaders struck again in the 83rd minute with a third goal. The Warriors were not able to get off a shot attempt in the final few minutes
