DEARBORN, Mich.- The Warriors (0-1-0, 0-1-0) fell to the Michigan-Dearborn Wolverines (1-0-0, 1-0-0) on Tuesday afternoon 8-0. Following a tough first period, the Warriors were able to slow things down in the second and third periods but couldn't find much offensive momentum to turn things around.
THE RUNDOWN
FIRST PERIOD
- The Warriors found themselves down early thanks to a couple quick Michigan-Dearborn goals to get things going. Offensively, the Warriors had trouble finding many opportunities due to a pressing Wolverine defense. Goalkeeper Connor Maloney began racking up most of his saves in the period en route to a 33-save game
SECOND PERIOD
- The Warriors found their footing in the second period, logging 11 shot attempts while holding the Wolverines to one goal. Freshman Shaun Zatelli and junior Aidan Baker led the Warriors' attack with 12 combined shot attempts. Baker went 14-26 on faceoffs during the contest, leading both teams
THIRD PERIOD
- The Wolverines continued to attack the Warriors on offense, keeping the puck on the RCU side of the ice for much of the final 20 minutes. Goalkeeper Nicholas Spognardi logged 15 saves in his Warrior debut in just 20 minutes of play to try and keep the Warriors in it. However, the Warriors weren't able to see any shots go into the back of the net in this one
STAT OF THE GAME
Maloney's 33 saves is the fourth 30+ save performance of his RCU career.
UP NEXT
