SOMERS NAMED ALL-CONFERENCE SECOND TEAM; ANDREWS ALL-FRESHMAN TEAM IN WHAC SEASON AWARDS

The Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference has released its 2024-25 women's basketball season awards, with RCU's Jacey Somers taking home a WHAC Second Team All-Conference nomination and Samone Andrews receiving a nod for the WHAC All-Freshman Team. Five Warriors are named to the WHAC All-Academic Team, and RCU graduate senior Angelina Haisha is the Warriors' Champions of Character Team selection for this season.
WARRIORS' SEASON COMES TO END AT CLEARY IN WHAC TOURNAMENT OPENING ROUND

After a hard-fought four quarters of action, RCU women's basketball's season has come to an end in the WHAC Tournament Opening Round against the Cleary Cougars, falling 80-66 at Gannon Gymnasium. Following a tight first quarter, the Cougars pulled ahead in the second and third periods, making an RCU comeback difficult in the fourth quarter.
WARRIORS WIN ON SENIOR DAY BEHIND 35 POINTS FROM SOMERS

The Warriors got an important win against future WHAC Tournament opponent Cleary on Saturday afternoon, winning 88-75 at Garth Pleasant Arena on senior day. The Warriors celebrated the careers of senior guards Angelina Haisha and Imari Martin prior to the contest.
WARRIORS EDGED OUT BY BLUE DEVILS ON THE ROAD

The Warriors' effort to surmount a large second-half deficit against Lawrence Tech came up just one point short on Saturday afternoon, with RCU falling 69-70. After a very slow start, the Warriors recovered with a much more efficient second half that saw the game come down to a final possession.
WARRIORS TROUNCE MICHIGAN-DEARBORN

The Warriors played one of their finest games of the season on Thursday afternoon, defeating the Michigan-Dearborn Wolverines 88-60. RCU started the game with a 25-7 first quarter and never looked back. Samone Andrews and Jacey Somers combined for 42 points, with Andrews shooting 8-11 from the field while passing five assists.
WARRIOR DEFENSE DOMINANTS IN HOME WIN OVER MADONNA

The Warriors put on a defensive clinic in their 92-60 win over the Madonna Crusaders on Saturday afternoon in Garth Pleasant Arena. Despite losing the turnover battle 16-12, RCU controlled the game by preventing Madonna from getting into a rhythm shooting the ball, holding the Crusaders to sub-40% shooting splits.
WARRIORS FALL IN DOUBLE-OVERTIME THRILLER TO CORNERSTONE

The Warriors were on the heartbreaking end of a double-overtime thriller in Garth Pleasant Arena on Wednesday night, falling to the Cornerstone Golden Eagles 81-78. In front of a packed crowd at Garth Pleasant Arena, both teams went back and forth for an electrifying second half, sparked by the Warriors coming back from down 18.
LATE SECOND HALF RUN BY AQUINAS DOWNS RCU AT HOME

A valiant effort by the Warriors came up short in the final quarter, with the visiting Aquinas Saints defeating RCU 80-68. Both teams couldn't create much separation for three quarters thanks to brilliant two-way play. However, hot shooting by the Saints in the final period led to RCU's demise.
WARRIOR DEFENSE NEUTRALIZES DEFIANCE IN 72-56 WIN

The freezing weather didn't stop RCU's defense from frenetically moving around the court on defense and sealing a 72-56 win over the Defiance Yellow Jackets on Wednesday night, with the Warriors' press keeping RCU firmly ahead throughout the contest.
WARRIORS DOWNED BY #RV INDIANA TECH IN FORT WAYNE

The Warriors couldn't get much offense going in their matchup with #RV Indiana Tech on Wednesday night, falling 73-36. Despite shooting well from the three-point line, the Warriors' turnovers and paint-field goal percentage proved too costly to allow RCU to close the margin.
WARRIORS POWER THROUGH FOURTH QUARTER, SECURE WIN OVER MICHIGAN-DEARBORN

A 24-7 fourth quarter for the Warriors turned a close game into a not-so-close one on Wednesday night in Garth Pleasant Arena, securing a 68-51 victory over the Michigan-Dearborn Wolverines. Defense proved to be the difference maker for RCU, forcing seven turnovers and holding the Wolverines to 2-12 shooting in the final ten minutes.
ASHLEY LOON WINS WHAC OFFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK AWARD

In a vote by Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference sports information directors on Monday afternoon, RCU forward Ashley Loon has won the WHAC Women's Basketball Offensive Player of the Week award. Loon wins the award fresh off a 24-point performance in a Warrior victory over #RV Northwestern Ohio.
WARRIOR OFFENSE SURGES IN 91-84 WIN OVER #RV UNOH

The Warriors found a major groove on offense in a 91-84 victory over the #RV Northwestern Ohio Racers on Jan. 4, securing a critical road win. Offensively, the Warriors put up one of their best performances of the season, shooting 54.1% from the field as a unit while scoring 60 points in the paint. Forwards Jacey Somers and Ashley Loon combined for 49 RCU points, leading the Warriors. For UNOH, five players scored in double-figures.
WARRIORS DEFEATED BY #11 ST. FRANCIS AT HOME

The Warriors' offense had trouble getting going throughout their matchup with the #11 St. Francis Cougars on Saturday afternoon, falling 73-42 in Garth Pleasant Arena. After a solid first quarter, the Warriors' offense stagnated for the second and third periods, allowing the visitors to grow a big lead. Forward Jacey Somers led the Warriors in scoring with 15 points on 4-8 shooting, while guard Isabella Gizzi led the Cougars with 19 points.
WARRIORS FALL SHY OF CLEARY ON THE ROAD

The Warriors were within striking distance of the hosting Cleary Cougars on Dec. 18 but ultimately couldn't get over the hump on the road in a 69-63 loss. Both teams were all over the defensive end of the floor, with RCU forcing 30 Cougar turnovers. However, the Cougars capitalized on free throw efficiency, which doomed the Warriors in the loss.
