SPOGNARDI EARNS WHAC DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK HONOR
LIVONIA, Mich. - Goalkeeper Nicholas Spognardi has won the Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference (WHAC) Defensive Player of the Week award following his 40-save performance against the Mercyhurst Lakers in a 3-0 win on Friday night. Spognardi is the first Warrior hockey player to win a POTW honor since forward Billy Mihelich did so on the offensive end in the 2019-20 season.
Spognardi's shutout was the first by a Warrior keeper since the 2018-19 season and was the first of his career. His effort helped the Warriors secure their first home win since the 2020-21 season.
The Warriors return to Big Boy Arena this Friday at 8:30 p.m. to host the Cleary Cougars, returning to conference play.
