The Warriors weren't able to counter a strong offensive attack from the Lawrence Tech Blue Devils on Nov. 15 and 16, falling 11-5 and 14-0 on the road and at home, respectively. In the first game, forward Kyle Hauer scored two goals to help the Warriors find some rhythm early in the third period.
THE RUNDOWN
Nov. 15 - RCU at Lawrence Tech - 5-11 Final
The first period was a tough defensive outing for the Warriors, as the team allowed seven goals behind a relentless Blue Devil offensive effort. For RCU, Cole Zalewski and Jake Mullins helped set up Maxximus Savel for a goal to give the Warriors some positive momentum heading into the second period.
In the second, the Blue Devils added two more goals. Still, Zalewski continued to facilitate the Warrior offense, teaming up with Griffin Hernalsteen to find Dustin Smith for a second Warriors' goal. For the Blue Devils, Kevin Bond was the player who found the back of the net, reaching three total goals in the game.
RCU found its footing in the third period, with Hauer and Kyle Banks getting a brief comeback effort going thanks to two goals off power plays. The positive momentum continued for the Warriors with Hauer's second goal, where Jake Mullins and Banks secured the puck in transition and set up the forward for his second goal of the weekend.
Nov. 16 - Lawerence Tech at RCU - 14-0 Final
It wasn't the best of games for the Warriors, with Lawrence Tech finding more shot opportunities than RCU could. For the Warriors, things just couldn't fall their way, with the Blue Devils quickly getting out and scoring goals. RCU had six shots in the first period, but the Blue Devils scored three goals to build a steady lead.
The second period was another tough one for the Warriors, but RCU had 12 shots that were saved by the Blue Devils' keeper. Things didn't improve much for the Warriors in the third installment, with Lawrence Tech continuing to tack on scores.
