The Warriors couldn't pick up wins in either of their games against the Cleary Cougars in the teams' first series against each other this season. In both contests, the Cougars found ways to open the game up early, proving challenging for the Warriors' comeback efforts.
GAME ONE - CLEARY AT RCU - 1-8 FINAL
The first game was not the best of starts for the Warriors, who found themselves down 4-0 in just five minutes of action. The Cougars fired shots at a very efficient clip despite the Warriors holding the shot advantage 15-12. The Warriors scored their lone goal of the game at the 6:47 mark, when Maxximus Savel received the puck on a power play from Shaun Zatelli and Kyle Hauer. The Cougars added one more goal before the period's end.
The Cougars' defense turned into offense for much of the second period, with the team shooting 20 shots to RCU's six. The Cougars added two goals to their total, scoring their final goal in the third period at the 16:54 mark.
GAME TWO - RCU AT CLEARY - 3-14 FINAL
The game started out similarly to the first, with the Cougars jumping out to a 4-0 lead in quick fashion. Things didn't improve in the second period, as the Cougars scored eight unanswered goals to grow the lead to 10-0. RCU got on the board towards the end of the second, with Jake Mullins scoring a goal at 4:55, followed a minute later by Caden Pachota. Hauer scored a third goal for the Warriors to start the third period, but Cleary scored two more goals, which put this game out of reach for the Warriors despite the offensive momentum.
