WARRIORS DROP SERIES TO #5 CUMBERLANDS IN SEASON OPENER

WILLIAMSBURG, Ky. - The Warriors weren't able to pick up a win in their first four games of the season, falling to the #5 Cumberlands Patriots over the weekend. After a tough first three games, the Warriors were able to make a push in the fourth contest of the weekend but came up short in the final innings.

Third baseman Lucas Bateman led on the weekend, hitting over 0.300, and slugging 1.000 with 2 HR, 1 3B, and 1 2B, along with 5 RBIs in 4 games against #5 University of the Cumberlands (14-2). Bateman recorded three RBI for the Warriors in the 11-5 loss in the series' fourth game, which saw RCU score three runs in the first inning to set up a 3-3 dead-heat. After a slew of unanswered runs by the Patriots, RCU scored two runs in the fifth inning to make a comeback effort. However, late runs by the Patriots put the Warriors too far behind to recover.
