WARRIORS FALL IN FIRST WHAC GAME AT SIENA HEIGHTS

ADRIAN, Mich. - The Warriors couldn't emerge victorious in their first Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference game of the season, taking on the Siena Heights Saints for a single nine, falling 16-7. After a substantial first six innings for the Warriors, things went bad in the bottom of the sixth, with the Saints going on a tear. First baseman Dakota Shafer led the Warriors with two RBI, producing two hits alongside catcher Aidan Alspaugh.

THE RUNDOWN

The Warriors started things off with a groundout run in the first inning, with Cael Kuzinski scoring a run with bases loaded after a Siena Heights error. The Saints took the lead in the second inning, scoring two runs before tacking on a third in the third inning. However, the Warriors bounced back in a big way from there.

In the fourth inning, Luke Jayaraman produced a double to advance Jake Nuttall to third, which created a scoring run for RCU when Shafer produced a single. The Warriors produced three consecutive outs in the bottom of the fourth, setting up a major fifth inning. Alspaugh smashed a home run there before RCU climbed into the pole position thanks to a double by Nuttall, which led to two runs. The second run was scored thanks to a single by Donovan Galovich. RCU allowed a run in the bottom of the inning, but countered that in the sixth.

Alspaugh logged a double in the top of the sixth, which led to a run when the Saints committed a fielding error. However, the Warriors fell into a bad spot in the bottom of the inning, with the Saints exploding for ten unanswered. Errors plagued the Warriors, which allowed the Saints to get hot at-bat and continuously load the bases. The Warriors had trouble recovering from that spot, with the game closing out a few innings later at 16-7.
