WARRIORS FALL TO SECOND HALF PUSH FROM COUGARS 4-1

WASHINGTON, Mich. - Following an early goal by the Warriors (0-6-1, 0-3-0) on Wednesday afternoon, the visiting Cleary Cougars (5-4-0, 2-1-0) scored four unanswered goals to push past RCU 4-1 at Michigan Stars Sports Center. Forward Dmitar Stankovic found fellow attacker Ivan Stojanovic for the Warriors' lone goal on a breakaway opportunity.

THE RUNDOWN

FIRST HALF

  • The Warriors and Cougars found themselves in a very fast-paced affair, with both teams trying to offside trap early on. However, the Warriors found a sliver on the left side of the pitch, with Stankovic pushing past a Cougar defender and firing a ball to the right side of the goal for an easy shot for Stojanovic. Cleary answered 14 minutes later on a header through a scrum of players
  • The remainder of the first half remained tightly contested, with both teams struggling to find openings for offense to develop. Goalkeeper Kris Tauzik logged three saves in the first half to help keep things even, including a frantic sequence where Tauzik saved a ball one-on-one before being assisted by fellow Warrior defenders to get the ball away

SECOND HALF

  • The Cougars began to find opportunities throughout the course of the half, growing the lead eight minutes into the final 45. The Warriors found a few opportunities on the other end, but weren't able to connect for a game-tying goal as the Cougars continued to expand the deficit
