WASHINGTON, Mich. - Eight seniors for the Warriors (3-9-2, 3-6-2) got to celebrate a win on senior day as the Warriors defeated the Defiance Yellow Jackets (0-16-0, 0-10-0) 5-1 on Wednesday afternoon in Michigan Stars Sports Center. The Warriors got off to a fantastic start with three goals in the first half before scoring an additional two to keep the game in their favor. Senior Dmitar Stankovic and defender Luka Knezivic led the Warriors with two goals each, while senior Ivan Djurcic added a goal of his own.
THE RUNDOWN
FIRST HALF
- Stankovic got the Warriors started with a goal two minutes into the contest. Following a shot off the crossbar by the Yellow Jackets, the Warriors got their second goal by way of a great play from Djuricic, who receive a pass across the box from Knezevic for the goal. Goalkeeper Kris Tauzik made an important save in the 14th minute to keep the Warriors ahead, setting up a free-kick goal for Knezevic at the top of the box. Tauzik continued to rack up saves as the half progressed, keeping Defiance scoreless en route to nine saves
SECOND HALF
- The Yellow Jackets got a goal six minutes into the second half, but the Warriors responded on both ends of the pitch with phenomenal transition play. In the 65th minute, the Warriors executed on a quick-hitting play starting with Knezevic, who passed to midfielder Milos Stojakovic, who then sent the ball to Stankovic for his second goal of the game.
