WARRIORS FALL BEHIND IN FINAL TWO GAMES OF FASTPITCH DREAMS CLASSIC

MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. - The Warriors (2-7) couldn't pull through for a win in their final day of the Fastpitch Dreams Spring Classic, falling to West Virginia State and Penn State-Schuylkill on Friday, March 8.

WARRIORS VS. WEST VIRGINIA STATE - L, 2-8

It was a gritty start for both teams in the first game of the day, with the Warriors making a big play in the bottom of the first after giving up a run. Jayde Dominey-McLean and Payton Parrish connected for a ground-out double play to get some momentum going for the Warriors. The bats weren't connecting for RCU, but the defense held up in the second inning. In the third, WVU State struck again, scoring on an RBI single to third base.

Jessica Laird got the Warriors' first score of the day, hitting a single to left field to run in Madelyn Latham, who had advanced bases after a wild pitch. Things didn't go well for the Warriors in the bottom of the fifth, though, as the team conceded five runs after West Virginia State loaded up the bases. Kylee Dillard earned the next score for the Warriors, reaching first on a throwing error before eventually running in off another error by WVU State. However, another run from the opponents and a tough go in the seventh inning sealed the deal, ending the game 8-2.

WARRIORS VS. PENN STATE-SCHUYLKILL - L, 1-8

It was tough for RCU to start this one, as Penn State-Schuylkill started off red-hot with six runs scored in the first two innings. For the first four innings, the Warriors had issues getting the bats going to answer PSU's strong start. In the fifth, Isabella Asai helped try to bring the Warriors back into it, hitting an RBI single to get Madelyn Latham to home plate after Latham got on base by error.

Unfortunately for the Warriors, it just wasn't their day as Schuylkill rattled off two more runs in the bottom of the fifth to bring the lead to 8-1. Hitting struggles continued for the Warriors, as the team popped out in the sixth and seventh innings to end the game.
