WARRIOR DEFENSE THRIVES IN VICTORY OVER LAMBTON
ROCHESTER HILLS, Mich. - The Rochester Christian Warriors (1-2) secured a resounding victory over the Lambton Lions (1-1) with a final score of 93-33 at Garth Pleasant Arena on Nov. 2. The regular-season encounter saw the Warriors' defense stifle the Lions' offense, holding them to only seven points by halftime.
Angelina Haisha led the Warriors' scoring charge with 17 points, highlighted by a spectacular 4-4 performance from three-point range in the closing minutes of the third quarter. Teammate Tambre Williams contributed significantly with 12 points and eight rebounds, including seven rebounds in the first quarter. Williams' frontcourt mate Melanie Moore also added 12 points for the Warriors and impressed with her defensive skills on the court, ending the game with eight rebounds and three blocks.
Jacey Somers and Chloe Sakalas also contributed heavily to RCU's offensive and defensive efforts. Somers secured six rebounds and added four points, while Sakalas contributed four points and snagged two blocks. RCU forward Demi Rodriguez did a great job facilitating Rochester Christian's offense, amassing five assists, several of which were on fastbreaks.
Despite Lambton's Breanna Pretty putting up a tough fight with 13 points and five rebounds, Rochester Christian's overwhelming defensive strategy left the Lions struggling to keep pace. The Warriors opened the contest on a 15-0 run and led by as much as 35 before the end of the first half. The Warriors continued to build from there, shooting the lights out of the gym in the third from beyond the arc to seal the game.
