WARRIORS DEFEATED BY RACERS FOLLOWING LATE GOAL

WASHINGTON, Mich. - The Warriors (1-4-3, 1-2-0) fell short against the Northwestern Ohio Racers (4-2-2, 2-0-0) on Sept. 21 by a score of 1-0 at Michigan Stars Sports Center. In what was a very close contest throughout, a goal by the Racers with 12 minutes remaining proved to be the winning goal.

THE RUNDOWN

FIRST HALF

  • Goalkeeper Sabrina Kiryakoza got the Warriors on the right start defensively with a save nine minutes into the contest. RCU was put into a challenging spot defensively in the first half, with the Racers keeping the ball on the Warriors' end of the pitch. However, the Warriors swarmed the ball each time it got into the box area, producing a couple of critical blocks to keep the game even by halftime

SECOND HALF

  • The Warriors continued to fight on the defensive end, and that defense turned into offense with a shot on goal by Jenna Schodowski in the 76th minute. Shortly after, the Racers answered with a goal inside the box to get the lead with time running down. At the 84th minute, forward Olivia Howes nearly tied the game, but the Racers came up with an important save to seal the win
